Light Rail Expansion Means More Phoenix Condos are Close!

March is the month for the new opening of the Northwest Phoenix Light Rail Extension, which means more condos on the light rail! This extension is sure to breathe new life into the northern edge of the “Central Corridor,” an area of homes and condos that have been around for a while.

Clusters of town homes in small communities abound in this area such as El Caro Villas, a charming Spanish style community of town homes with mature landscaping. Located near 19th and Butler Avenues, this is one such neighborhood that will benefit hugely from the light rail extension.

Currently, the light rail stops at 19th Avenue at Montebello, near Christown Spectrum Mall. Phase 1 of the Northwest Extension will extend service an additional 3.2 miles north on 19th Avenue to about I-17 and Dunlap Avenue. This new route is designed to include three station at Glendale, Northern and Dunlap.

Phase II rolling out a future date will bring light rail service further west towards I-17 near Metrocenter Mall.

Condo and Townhome Communities Near the New Light Rail Extension

When the new tracks are in place, residents of El Caro Villas condos will have their choice of two light rail stations, one at Northern Avenue and one at Dunlap Avenue, both within easy walking distance, as well as the new proposed Park-and-Ride at 19th and Dunlap Avenues.

 

Urban 30 is a newer townhome development at 21st Avenue and Northern that is an easy walk to the light rail extension on 19th Avenue.  Built in 2014, these are one of the few newer developments in the area with modern interiors and rooftop decks.

Owners of Orangeaire Villas condos will also benefit from the Northwest Extension. This community is situated off of 21st Avenue, between the current light rail station at Montebello Avenue and the new proposed station on Glendale Avenue.
